Former President Donald Trump recently attacked fellow billionaire Mark Cuban, who has been actively campaigning for Trump’s opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris. In a post on Truth Social, Trump called Cuban a “loser” and criticized him for being a “weak and pathetic bully” with no athletic skills.
Trump also claimed that he had stopped taking Cuban’s phone calls during his time in the White House. These harsh words came after Cuban mocked Trump’s trade policies during a Harris campaign event, intensifying their ongoing feud.
The tension between Trump and Cuban escalated when Cuban ridiculed Trump’s tariff proposals at a Harris rally. Cuban criticized Trump’s lack of understanding regarding tariffs, suggesting that Trump falsely believed China would bear the costs of tariffs.
Trump has proposed imposing a 20% tariff on all imports, with an even steeper 60% tariff on Chinese goods. Economists have widely criticized this plan, arguing that it would raise costs for U.S. importers and consumers, making it an unpopular policy among experts.
This feud marks a sharp change from 2015, when Cuban publicly praised Trump, calling him the “best thing to happen to politics in a long time.” At that time, Trump thanked Cuban for his support.
However, their relationship soured over the years, with Cuban endorsing Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election and becoming increasingly critical of Trump since then. The animosity has only deepened in the current election cycle, with Cuban taking on a prominent role in Harris’s campaign.
Cuban’s political involvement has become more visible, with the billionaire consistently supporting Harris and positioning himself as a pro-business advocate within the Democratic Party.
He has even suggested he might pursue a government role, such as replacing Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler. Cuban’s public persona as a former “Shark Tank” host and entrepreneur aligns with Harris’s message of being a pro-growth capitalist.
At the same time, Trump has recruited another prominent billionaire, Elon Musk, to his campaign efforts. This has sparked further rivalry between Trump and Cuban, with Cuban recently criticizing Musk during an appearance on “Real Time With Bill Maher.”
Cuban pointed out that someone like Musk, despite being an entrepreneurial genius, could also be a “troll,” adding yet another layer of tension to the battle of the billionaires in the political sphere.
