Adele concluded her Las Vegas residency in 2024 with a heartfelt statement: “I don’t know when I’m next going to perform again.” Now, she’s taking her artistic journey in a new direction by confirming her acting debut in the upcoming Tom Ford film, Cry to Heaven.

Adele joins an impressive ensemble cast that includes Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Hunter Schafer, Colin Firth, Thandiwe Newton, and Lux Pascal, the sister of Pedro Pascal.

Both Variety and The Hollywood Reporter have also covered Adele’s upcoming acting venture. Adele’s Las Vegas residency, Weekends with Adele, began intimately with just her and a pianist, gradually unfolding into a visually stunning and emotionally powerful production.

Fashion icon Tom Ford is set to direct, write, and produce Cry to Heaven, an adaptation of Anne Rice’s 1982 novel of the same name. The story, set in 18th-century Italy, follows two men, a Venetian nobleman and a castrated opera singer,  in a dramatic exploration of art, identity, and passion. The film is currently in pre-production between London and Rome.

The ensemble cast also features Ciarán Hinds, George MacKay, Mark Strong, Paul Bettany, Owen Cooper, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Josephine Thiesen, Theodore Pellerin, Daryl McCormack, Cassian Bilton, and Hauk Hannenmann.

Ford, who is self-financing the project, made his directorial debut with 2009’s A Single Man, which also starred Colin Firth. Adele’s Weekends with Adele residency at Caesars Palace ran for two years of sold-out performances.

During several shows in Germany in the summer of 2024, she told fans that after her residency ended that fall, “I will not see you for an incredibly long time and I will hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break.”
