Amy Schumer is setting the record straight. The comedian addressed criticism after she deleted all her pre-weight-loss photos from social media, clarifying the narrative behind her choices.
“Hey media outlets I didn’t delete my old photos because they were pre me losing weight,” Amy wrote on Instagram on Nov. 12. “That’s a narrative you created. I’m proud of how I’ve looked always.”
The 44-year-old, who shares son Gene Fischer, 6, with husband Chris Fischer, emphasized that she doesn’t measure herself by pounds lost when reflecting on changes to her body.
“I have been working to be pain free and I finally am,” she explained. “My endometriosis is better. My back is healing. I no longer have Cushing syndrome so my face went back to normal. I am grateful to be strong and healthy especially for my son.”
Amy, diagnosed with Cushing’s syndrome, a disorder in which the body produces too much of the hormone cortisol, in 2024, stressed that she “didn’t purposefully go on a weight-loss journey.”

“That’s a fine thing to go on,” she continued. “But my focus has been on health. I’m sure my weight will always fluctuate.” As for what motivated the changes to her social media, Amy cited a touch of creative expression.
“Your Instagram is not your identity, it’s a curation of what you want the world to see,” she said. “and I feel great strong and beautiful and it’s been fun sharing that.”
The Trainwreck star added, “Wishing you strength and self love on whatever path you’re on as long as it’s kind and respectful to all people. No matter their weight race or religion peace!”
Amy first revealed her slimmer figure in October, posting a photo of herself in a black minidress during a girls’ trip to Las Vegas.
Although she has seen noticeable results over the past year, the I Feel Pretty actress has been exploring different health approaches since 2022—including a brief experience with Ozempic.
“I was bedridden,” Amy shared about the Type 2 diabetes medication, which is also used for weight loss, on The Howard Stern Show in January. “I was vomiting and then you have no energy. But other people take it and they’re all good, so God bless them.”
