Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are officially engaged, marking a new chapter in their relationship three years after their romance first made headlines.

“We are sharing with all of you that we are engaged and we’ve been engaged for just about a month now,” Robach, 52, announced on the Tuesday, October 14, episode of the couple’s podcast.

Holmes, 48, added, “We wanted to let you all know before anybody else was able to; we’ve learned that lesson, I guess, in the past about our relationship.”

According to the pair, Robach has been proudly wearing her engagement ring in public, even in front of “crowds of tens of thousands of people”, without anyone noticing.

“I was in three massive football stadiums three weekends in a row, wearing my engagement ring very proudly, very excitedly, kept waiting for somebody to point it out or ask me, ‘Hey, what’s that?’ And it never happened,” Robach said, as Holmes joked, “We haven’t been keeping it a secret, but nobody’s asked!”

News of Robach and Holmes’ relationship first broke in late 2022 while both were still married, Robach to Andrew Shue and Holmes to Marilee Fiebig. It was confirmed in January 2023 that the former GMA3 cohosts were officially cut from their positions at ABC following the scandal.

Earlier this year, a source exclusively told that an engagement was imminent. “It’s been in the works for a while,” the insider revealed in June, teasing that a proposal could happen “any day” and would likely be announced on their podcast “when the time is right.”

The same source noted that the couple’s wedding will be “modest and simple,” reflecting their unconventional journey together. “How they got together is not traditional, so they want the engagement and wedding this time around to be their own style,” the insider said, adding that both Shue and Fiebig, who are now dating, may receive invitations.

Just one month before their engagement reveal, Robach and Holmes discussed the possibility of expanding their family.

“I don’t know what’s going on, but we have talked more lately about having kids. We’ve talked more lately about the idea of even adopting a child, and usually it’s me bringing it up,” Holmes said on their September podcast episode. “Usually, the response is the one you all just heard. She laughs at me.”

Robach explained her reaction, sharing that she was told she was “out of the baby-making business” following her 2013 breast cancer diagnosis. After undergoing eight rounds of chemotherapy and breast reconstruction surgery, she was declared cancer-free.

“I do chuckle, because yes, that was a painful thing to hear at 40,” she admitted. “But I’ve come to peace with it and am very happy to have had two children. To have Sabine around is joy. I absolutely love having that childlike sweetness around — it’s awesome.”

Holmes added that the idea of creating their “own family” still feels meaningful to him. “It’s not even a matter of watching you and your girls, or you watching me with mine,” he said.

“When you’re with someone you love, you can’t help but want to create your own unit. And yes, those units sometimes come from other pieces and places coming together, but you can have them.”
