Representative Denies Seth Rogen Was Banned From Presenting at the Emmys

A representative for the Television Academy has formally addressed claims regarding Seth Rogen’s alleged ban from presenting at the Emmy Awards.

In a recent interview, Rogen speculated that he might have been barred from the Emmys following his criticism of the 2021 ceremony’s venue. However, the Academy has issued a statement refuting these claims, affirming that it looks forward to seeing him at future events.

A spokesperson for the Television Academy responded to Rogen’s assertions in an official statement, saying, “The Television Academy congratulates Mr. Rogen on his multiple Emmy wins this past September, and we look forward to seeing him in the audience at many ceremonies to come.”

The clarification comes after Rogen’s remarks about the 2021 Emmys venue. He explained that an outdoor event had been promised, but the ceremony was held indoors in a space that felt cramped amid the pandemic.

While presenting the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series award, he commented, “Let me start by saying there is way too many of us in this little room. What are we doing? They said this was outdoors! It’s not. They lied to us. We’re in a hermetically sealed tent right now! I would not have come to this.”

He further criticized the setup, adding, “Why is there a roof? It’s more important that we have three chandeliers than that we make sure we don’t kill Eugene Levy tonight. That is what has been decided. This is insane. I went from wiping my groceries to having Paul Bettany sneeze in my face.”

Rogen later discussed the incident on Jimmy Kimmel Live, recalling his criticism and noting that the Emmys staff were displeased with his remarks. “They were outwardly pissed off at me afterwards, the producers, and I know they cycle through producers, but I’ve not been asked to return. I’ve been blacklisted,” he added.
