Nikki Glaser and Judd Apatow are teaming up once again with Universal Pictures for a brand-new romantic comedy feature.
Glaser is set to co-write, produce, and star in the yet-to-be-titled film, which will also see Apatow on board as a producer. Described as a modern and edgy rom-com, specific plot details remain under wraps, and a director has not yet been announced.
Emmy-nominated writer Sean O’Connor is co-writing the screenplay alongside Glaser. O’Connor previously worked on the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, where Glaser made history earlier this year as the ceremony’s first solo female host.
Apatow and Josh Church will produce the film through Apatow Productions as part of the company’s overall deal with Universal. Glaser will also serve as a producer, while Universal’s senior executive vice president of production development Erik Baiers will oversee the project for the studio.
Glaser and Apatow last collaborated on Trainwreck (2015), Apatow’s hit directorial effort starring Amy Schumer and released through Universal, in which Glaser appeared in a supporting role.

Among his upcoming projects, Apatow is set to direct a film he is co-writing with Glen Powell, who will star as a country western singer in free fall.
He is also at work on a two-part HBO documentary about Mel Brooks, which he is co-directing and producing alongside Michael Bonfiglio. As a filmmaker, Apatow is known for directing celebrated comedies such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and The King of Staten Island.
Glaser, meanwhile, continues to build momentum in both film and television. The comedian, actress, and podcast host received critical acclaim for hosting this year’s Golden Globes, and she is slated to return as host in 2026.
She is also set to co-write, produce, and star in a Paramount Pictures comedy inspired by the childhood game MASH.
Glaser is represented by UTA, Brillstein, and Ginsburg Daniels. Apatow is represented by WME, Mosaic, and Ziffren Brittenham, while O’Connor is represented by CAA, Mosaic, and Felker Toczek.
