Kim Kardashian has revealed that she turned to the artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT for assistance while studying for her law exams, but she blames the technology for her failure. The 45-year-old reality star and entrepreneur made this admission during her appearance on Vanity Fair’s lie detector test interview series.

The conversation began when her colleague, Teyana Taylor, asked if Kardashian ever used ChatGPT for “life advice,” “dating advice,” or considered it “a friend.”

Kardashian denied those uses but confessed she had used it for “legal advice,” explaining her method: “When I need to know the answer to a question, I’ll take a picture and snap it and put it in there.”

She stated that the AI’s incorrect answers have directly led to her failing tests “all the time,” causing her to get mad and “yell at it.”

Taylor then suggested the dynamic was like having a “frenemy,” to which Kardashian agreed.

She elaborated that the chatbot often responds to her frustration by saying, “This is just teaching you to trust your own instincts. So you knew the answer all along.” Taylor joked that the AI had “clocked” her, and that their relationship was that of “toxic friends.”

Kardashian further described her frustrating interactions, stating the AI needs to “do better.” She expressed annoyance that the bot tries to become “my therapist to tell me why I need to believe in myself after they got the answer wrong.”

The operator of the lie detector test confirmed that Kardashian was being truthful about her use of ChatGPT. This study effort is for the notoriously difficult California bar exam, which consists of five one-hour essay questions, one 90-minute performance test, and 200 multiple-choice questions.

Kardashian’s revelation comes as she promotes her new Hulu series, All’s Fair, which centers on an all-female law firm led by divorce attorneys. The show, also starring Naomi Watts, Glenn Close, and Niecy Nash-Betts, is scheduled to premiere on Tuesday, November 4, on Hulu.
