Kevin Spacey says he is currently without a permanent home, citing overwhelming legal expenses and limited work opportunities following the sexual misconduct allegations made against him.

“I’m living in hotels, I’m living in Airbnbs,” the two-time Oscar winner told in an interview published Wednesday. “I’m going where the work is. I literally have no home, that’s what I’m attempting to explain.”

Spacey noted that his former residence in Baltimore was ultimately sold at auction as part of what he described as a broader financial situation that has been “not great.”

“The costs over these last seven years have been astronomical,” he said. “I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out.”

Since 2017, the American Beauty and House of Cards star has faced accusations of sexual misconduct from more than a dozen men, allegations he has consistently denied.

In 2023, he was found not guilty in a London case involving four men who alleged he sexually assaulted them between 2001 and 2013. Additionally, in 2022 Spacey was found not liable in a civil lawsuit filed by actor Anthony Rapp, who claimed that in 1986, at age 14, he was molested by Spacey, then 26.

Despite his legal challenges, Spacey has continued to work in several smaller independent film projects led by first-time directors. He has also taken the stage in Cyprus for a variety show.

“We are in touch with some extremely powerful people who want to put me back to work,” Spacey said. “And that will happen in its right time. But I will also say what I think the industry seems to be waiting for is to be given permission, by someone who is in some position of enormous respect and authority.”

He remains hopeful that a professional resurgence is possible.

“So, my feeling is if Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino call Evan [his manager, Evan Lowenstein] tomorrow, it will be over. I will be incredibly honored and delighted when that level of talent picks up the phone.”
