Kaia Gerber is opening up about her growing relationship with Lewis Pullman for the first time. On the October 1 episode of the “Therapuss With Jake Shane” podcast, the 24-year-old actress and model reflected on the emotional growth their romance has brought, saying, “Definitely a lot is being healed in this relationship.”
Host Jake Shane remarked that he felt Gerber and Pullman, 32, seemed “healthy” together, causing the Bottoms star to respond, “I’m gonna cry!” Gerber also shared her perspective on dating, encouraging listeners to pursue relationships with friends.
“I really feel like if you have the opportunity to date a friend, do it, because it just is so much better,” she explained. “I never wanna fight with my friends. I never wanna be mad at my friends. I respect my friends. It just is like a whole other thing, and I think sometimes you forget you like someone when you love them.”
She continued, “If you can date your friends, you should, or date someone that you would be friends with anyways. Don’t just date someone because you’re sexually attracted to them or in lust with them. You should sleep with those people, for sure, but you don’t need to make them your partners.”
Before dating Pullman, Gerber had been linked to Pete Davidson, Jacob Elordi, and most recently Austin Butler. During the podcast, she admitted that she often altered her personality for her older partners.
“I would completely just change my personality and my values for someone. I always dated people that were older than me, so I was very willing to give up everything,” she said. “I was like, ‘I can show you I love you by completely giving up my life for you,’ which is actually not how you build respect and trust, and is not good in the long run.”
She added, “Because then you start to bring a little bit more of who you really are into the relationship and they’re like, ‘No, I liked that person before.’”
Gerber and Pullman began dating in late 2024 but have mostly kept their romance private. A source told in January, “Kaia and Lewis have actually been together for a while now. They started dating in early December 2024. They kept it under wraps until the news of her and Austin’s split came out. Kaia and Austin have been broken up since October.”
The insider added, “They run in the same circle and have similar friend groups, and that’s how they were introduced. Kaia likes that this relationship feels low-pressure and that Lewis is a very low-key guy.”
