Orlando Bloom was photographed in the company of actress Rachel Lynn Matthews during a Halloween celebration, and in a notable choice of costume, the actress was dressed to resemble his former fiancée, the pop star Katy Perry.
In a series of photos that were shared directly on Matthews’ own Instagram Stories, Bloom, who was dressed in a skeleton costume for the occasion, could be clearly seen placing his arm around the shoulders of the ‘Happy Death Day’ actress.
For her part, Matthews wore a distinctive blue bodysuit and a black wig, an ensemble that was clearly reminiscent of the specific flight suit and look that Perry famously wore during her 11-minute commercial spaceflight aboard the Blue Origin spacecraft to travel to the edge of space.
In another photograph that was subsequently obtained by media outlets, Matthews, who is 32 years old, deliberately recreated a specific, headline-making photo of Perry kissing the ground immediately after she had returned safely to Earth. Accompanying her post, Matthews wrote the caption: “Take up space!”
Official representatives for both Katy Perry, 41, and Orlando Bloom, 48, publicly confirmed their separation back on July 3, which we first learned on June 26 that the high-profile couple had officially ended their engagement. The former pair share one young daughter together, 5-year-old Daisy Dove.
“Katy has every intention of maintaining a positive and respectful relationship with Orlando,” a source close to the situation told at the time the split was announced. “He’s the father of their daughter, and that will always come first for her.”
“They’ve been through a lot together, and while they’ve decided to go their separate ways, there’s still a mutual respect between them,” the insider continued, providing further context. “They’re still very much in touch and are actively co-parenting Daisy together. For the sake of their daughter, they’re committed to keeping things amicable and cooperative.”

The former couple also maintain a circle of mutual friends, which notably includes Jeff Bezos and his wife, Lauren Sánchez Bezos. Lauren and Perry were both passengers on the same April 14 Blue Origin space mission, while Bloom was personally in attendance as a guest at the couple’s high-profile wedding celebration in Venice, Italy, this past June.
Though Perry and Bloom have largely refrained from sharing extensive details about their separation publicly, the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor did offer a public comment on their breakup during a conversation with host Craig Melvin that aired on September 5, which occurred while he was promoting his recent film The Cut.
“There’s been some personal changes in your life since you were here the last time. How are you doing?” Melvin asked him directly during the interview.
“I’m great, man. I’m so grateful,” Bloom replied cordially on the morning show, adding a specific mention of their young daughter, Daisy, by saying, “We have the most beautiful daughter. You know when you leave everything on the field like I did in this movie? I feel grateful for all of it.”
Many fans and music critics have also theorized that the lyrics of Perry’s newly released single titled “Bandaids” may offer some insight into the personal emotions surrounding the demise of their nine-year relationship.
In the song’s accompanying music video, which was directed by Christian Breslauer, Perry is depicted in a kitchen scene where she accidentally drops her ring down a drain.
Then, the “Dark Horse” singer’s signature humor shines through the narrative as she subsequently goes on a ‘Final Destination’-type journey involving a series of back-to-back near-death experiences, yet her character always manages to survive them.
Later on in the same song, the “Firework” singer appears to look back at the relationship in a more nostalgic and reflective way, and she openly acknowledges in the lyrics that they had “good times” together and that they “never faked our pictures.”
