Senior Full-Stack Engineer

Kaisuki is a Next.js and Fastify monorepo on MySQL, with websockets carrying every message, presence change and raid update. The team is small enough that whoever builds a feature also designs its schema, writes its migration and watches it in production. You would be one of a handful of people with that reach.

What you'll do

  • Build features across the whole stack — Drizzle schema and migrations, Fastify routes, and the React surfaces on top of them.
  • Design for concurrency where it matters. Currency, raids and boosts all involve balances that several requests can touch at once, and correctness there is not negotiable.
  • Keep the realtime layer honest: socket rooms, presence, typing, unread state and the reconnection paths people never think about until they break.
  • Take part in deploys and in the aftermath of them. You will be close to the incident when something goes wrong.
  • Review other people's work properly, and expect the same on yours.

What we're looking for

  • Several years building and operating production web applications, not just shipping to staging.
  • Strong TypeScript, and comfort in both a React component and a SQL query plan on the same afternoon.
  • Real experience with relational schema design and migrations that run against live data.
  • You have debugged something in production with users on it, and can describe how you narrowed it down.
  • Clear written communication. Most of what we decide is decided in writing.

Nice to have

  • Websockets or other long-lived-connection work at scale.
  • Next.js App Router specifically, including the parts that are still sharp.
  • You have run a community of your own and know what moderators actually need.
